What is Film Daze?

I thoroughly enjoy watching movies. I do this on a regular basis, because I enjoy watching movies for the pleasure of it. I don’t really care whether it is amazing or not. If I can sit through it and not be bored to death, then that is fine with me.

I try to write often, but have a hard time doing so. Thus I figured this would be a nice way of forcing myself to write in at least some form besides essays. Initially I started with the goal to watch one film a day and to post some form of review here. I made it to 188 (actually bit more, but I didn’t post). Still, I’m plowing on. My intent is to try to post after any viewing of a film, but that doesn’t always happen. That and due to school I tend to disappear for a week(s), so I may have some posts backlogged so that there is new content. Over the summer I tend to watch more TV so there will be some reviews on some TV shows here as well.

Generally my reviews are just my thoughts on the movie. Some are long rants and some are a few words. I don’t really give ratings since I have yet to think of a rating system I like. That and it’s work and this is meant to be fun! Occasionally I’ll nerd out and do lengthy post about a film’s cinematography, score, or something else, but that’s more a matter of motivation. I’m working on adding some other items.

And the site only has one contributor: me. I’ve posted elsewhere occasionally, but at this point Film Daze is a one man-child project, though things may change. If anyone wants to guest write regularly or frequently just talk to me.

Help!

I still love doing this. Even though it can be time consuming, it is fun. However, it would be nice to get more feedback from others. I’m content talking to myself, but social interaction in this instance is nice, especially since I’m aware that people do read this.

So what you can do:

1. Comment. Honestly this is the biggest helper. Just write something. I’m content with you saying poop. And if you disagree or whatever that’s fine. I survived writing four years in college. I can take the criticism. It’s actually helpful. So, yeah. Commenting is vital. I enjoy knowing others are reading and commenting is a great way to get good discussion going, which I love! And don’t worry how old the post is. I will know that you’ve commented at least.

2. Just share the site with people. There are twitter and facebook buttons and links around. They’re on the main page and even mor sharing options on single post pages. I encourage you to use them. And don’t feel obligated to just share the site. If there’s a post that you think is really good, than share that.

I can only do so much shameless advertising on my own and it just looks sad if I comment to myself on my own posts.
